NH Liquor Laws to Change

Oct 23, 2009 - by Richard Samdperil

In January, 2010, New Hampshire state law will change to make it harder to prosecute businesses accused of over-serving patrons alcohol.

An editorial in the Portsmouth Herald calls recent prosecutions of restaurants and bars in Portsmouth, NH inconsistent and disengenuous.

The editorial further suggests that Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams, knowing that the law will change, has deliberately stepped up prosecutions in 2009: "It can be concluded Reams' and other law enforcement officials' actions violate the spirit of the new law and leads us to believe they might be attempting to make media hay while the legislative sun still shines."
